Sweet toothiness

I have a chocolate orange layer cake cooling on my counter right now, waiting to be iced. Why, you ask? Well… why not?
Yesterday I made a slightly modified version of Jessy‘s Glazed Tempeh with Spiced Apples and Raisins. It made me very happyfaced, indeed! Thanks for the yummy recipe, Jessy!

The other day I was shopping at Kroger and noticed that their Larabars were on sale. They’re normally $1.49, but they were on special for $1.25. Meh, better… but not great. I can get Clif bars for $1, so I have a hard time spending that much on other bars, even though Larabars are my favorite.

Then I noticed that almost all of the bars had 40¢ off coupons stuck to them. DING! Kroger doubles coupons under 60¢, which meant these Larabars, which are normally $1.49, were 45¢! Hello! The cashier looked at me a little funny, but I stocked up. They only had Apple Pie, Cherry Pie, Chocolate Coconut Chew and Cashew Cookie (no Ginger Snap, boo), but I wasn’t about to complain. I might just go back and buy more before they go off sale!

Now, I’ll leave you with one of the saddest sights ever – an almost empty cookie jar.

i think i could cry! you should bake and make those cookies not so lonely.

almost empty cookie jar = all the more reason to bake some more.

While two lonely cookies in a container are sad, you somehow made it look artsy and Zen in your photo. Damn, it makes me want to frame it and hang it on the wall.

p.s. Isn’t it funny that we three have only commented on the cookies?

So I have to change that.

Never heard of Larabars — I’m a Zone Perfect kinda gal — but snaps on the coupons!

Don’t they limit how many bars you can buy per coupon?

I’ve never seen a Larabar on sale before…it’s a shame because I spend so much on them =P

That’s a great deal! We don’t have Krogers down here, but we have Publix. They double coupons, too. I have a ton of 50 cent off Cliff bar coupons… Cliff bars are only 99 cents, so I basically get them free. I’m a coupon nerd.

But I NEVER find Larabar coupons… so definitely stock up!!!
