Sorry for the long absence – I had a cake tasting day yesterday that was so dysfunctional it isn’t even worth getting into. Needless to say, I’m glad it’s over. Also, after staying up baking until 6am yesterday morning before getting up again at 9am, I was glad to get some substantial sleep last night.
Other than the disaster that was my Sunday, the rest of the weekend went fairly well. The highlight was going out with my friend Ahnah, who is pretty much awesome. We went to Smooth Moves (a smoothy joint) for lunch, and ate… that’s right – falafel! Yeah, I know, enough with the falafel already. I think I still prefer the stuff my guy over at Pita Wraps makes, but this was yummy nonetheless.
After lunch we headed over to Quetzal for some soy lattes and I ordered a fruit plate – because I am a pig. The fruit was awesome, as were the lattes. Oh yeah, and I forgot to mention in my last post that Quetzal is totally haunted. Bonus!
And last, a picture of my gorgeous friend, Ahnah. Yeah, that’s purple in her hair – isn’t she the cutest ever?
And she’s vegan, too. If we both weren’t already married, we would run away to Canada and get hitched, then start a retreat in the mountains where she would teach yoga and I would cook vegan food for everyone.

Ooooh I would love a big fruit plate right now. Sorry your cake-tasting day didn’t work out.
THAT FRUIT LOOKS SO LUSCIOUS. I like Falafel. I wish I knew a good place near my work where I could get one right now.
Aw! You should bring her to the Food Awareness outings! We Memphis vegans must stick together…it’s us against the evil BBQ monsters! If we were comic book characters, we would have the power to inflict horrible diet-related illnesses on our foes! Wait, that happens without us needing superpowers…never mind. But yea, bring her!
And eating fruit does not make you a pig…if you had ordered, say, the tofu burger after eating falafel, that would make you a pig.
But fruit’s a freebie!
And sucks about your cake-tasting suckiness! At least it’s over. What happened?
Hahaha your post made me crack up at the end, where you described your hypothetical life with your friend… can I join you at the retreat? Pleeeaaassseee? I know I wouldn’t be much help– basically I would be a moocher, taking free yoga lessons and eating free vegan food– but please still consider taking me along if you ever act on this idea!
Falafel is the best. Period. The more falafel posts the better!
Your friend is totally cute and I love the purple in her hair :]
You just made me crave strawberries! That plate of fruit looks so great…
Really? You’d let me b he official chocolate taste-tester?
I have to warn you that I wouldn’t do a very good job, since I’m not very discerning when it comes to chocolate. ALL chocolate tastes good to me!
